TCN Denies National Blackout Allegations

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has denied allegations made by Daily Post of an impending national blackout.

The company labeled the publication as false and misleading.

Recall that the news outlet exclusively reported that electricity workers have shut down the national grid following the declaration of an indefinite strike by organized labour unions, as confirmed by the spokesperson for Transmission Company of Nigeria on Tuesday.

In a statement released by TCN, it was clarified that the Head of Public Affairs did not make any such statement as claimed by Daily Post.

TCN reassured the public that the nation’s grid is intact and continues to supply bulk electricity to distribution load centers across the country.

The National Control Centre in Osogbo, which controls bulk power transmission nationwide, is actively operational.

The company has urged media outlets to exercise a sense of responsibility in their reporting to avoid causing unnecessary panic among the public.
