Football: Ten Hag’s Comments ‘Killed’ Ronaldo, Sancho at Man Utd, Jose Enrique Claims

Ten Hag

Former Liverpool player, Jose Enrique has weighed in on the reported strained relationships between Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and star players Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, suggesting that Ten Hag’s public comments during his feud with the players may have negatively impacted their situations at the club.

The discord between Ten Hag and Ronaldo reportedly led to the termination of the Portugal captain’s contract with Manchester United.

Ronaldo expressed his dissatisfaction with the manager in a controversial interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan last year.

Despite attempts to downplay the rift, the fallout resulted in the termination of Ronaldo’s contract.

In addition to Ronaldo, Sancho is said to have clashed with Ten Hag, leading to the England star’s absence from the team for several months.

Sancho responded to criticism from his manager on social media, prompting speculation about the strained relationship between the player and the Dutch manager.

Reacting to the situation, Enrique told Daily Star Sport: “I think [Erik Ten Hag’s] comments about Cristiano killed him. The manager handled the situation really well in what was a much bigger issue because he is f***ing Cristiano Ronaldo.

“It is wrong what Ten Hag said in the press, I think it killed him [Sancho],” Enrique added.

“With him going in the press and saying what he said [about Sancho] I don’t think it was good. I think these sorts of things they need to keep private and talk between themselves,” he disclosed.
