Notorious bandit leader Bello Turji has openly defied the Nigerian government in a recent video, asserting that he and his associates are not afraid of death.
Turji’s remarks came in response to the government’s decision to deploy Service Chiefs to Sokoto State to combat his group.
In the video, he claimed that if he and his followers were fearful of dying, they would not have taken up arms. He urged the government to stop sending military leaders after his group.
The terrorist stated, “If they were afraid of dying, we wouldn’t have taken up arms in the first place, stop sending Service Chiefs after us.”
This statement follows a previous online video showing Turji and his men celebrating the alleged capture of two Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAPs) from the Nigerian Army.

However, the Nigerian Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has refuted Turji’s claim, explaining that the MRAPs were immobilized due to being stuck in swampy terrain during military operations in Zamfara State.
In response to the escalating threat, the Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, and other top military officials have recently visited Sokoto State, pledging a decisive military offensive against Turji and other bandits threatening the North West region.
