A new group, identified as “Lakurawa,” is reportedly offering up to one million naira to young men in Sokoto in exchange for their loyalty.
Sources close to the matter have informed Zagazola Makama that this group, allegedly made up of members from Mali, Chad, Libya, Niger, and Burkina Faso, is actively recruiting local youths in Sokoto through significant financial incentives.
According to witnesses, this substantial financial appeal is part of an aggressive recruitment strategy aimed at attracting followers to their cause.

In addition to recruitment, the Lakurawa are said to confront and expel bandits, seizing cattle in the areas they control. So far, the group has not launched any attacks in the Northwest region.
