Again, Terrorists Raid Niger Community, Kill One, Abduct 16 Family Members

In a tragic incident on Saturday night, armed terrorists attacked Dangunu village in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State, leaving one person dead and 21 others kidnapped.

The terrorists reportedly accessed the village by boat through the river between Chikun and the town.

Among the abducted victims is Ahmadu Adamu, along with 16 members of his family, including wives and children. The bandits, numbering five, also kidnapped five other community members, ferrying them away on a boat along the Chikun river.

During the ordeal, Ahmadu Adamu faced a brutal beating by the bandits, leading to his untimely death. His lifeless body was callously dumped at the river bank by the gunmen, who then proceeded to abduct the remaining victims.

A source in the village revealed, “Ahmadu Adamu and about 16 members of his family, including his wives and children, were among those kidnapped as well as five other members of the community. They carried them away on boat on the Chikun river.

“The bandits gave Ahmadu a thorough beating leading to his death. A pregnant woman who was released by the bandits due to her condition broke the news to us.

“His body was dumped at the river bank by the gunmen for his family to pick up. What is happening to us is so painful,” he lamented.

The motive behind the attack is yet to be officially determined, but speculations suggest a potential connection to informants, especially considering that most farmers in the area had recently completed their crop harvesting.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of this heinous act, efforts to obtain comments from the Chairman of Munya LGA, Mallam Abdullahi Najume, proved unsuccessful.

Additionally, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Wasiu Abiodun, could not be reached for statements at the time of filing this report.
