A distressing incident unfolded in Ekiti as terrorists abducted school children and teachers of a private school, along with their bus driver in Emure Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Ekititrends, in a post on its X account on Tuesday, provided details of the incident. However, in response to the alarming situation, the Ekiti State Government called on residents not to lose hope, assuring that security measures had been intensified to rescue the victims.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji, in a statement issued on Tuesday, condemned the kidnap as callous and unacceptable, pledging all available resources for the safe rescue of the abducted children and teachers. The government disclosed that security agencies were actively pursuing the abductors with a mandate to ensure the safe return of the victims.
The statement emphasized the stepped-up security measures across the state to eliminate criminal elements from their hideouts. Governor Oyebanji urged citizens to remain calm and vigilant while cooperating with security agencies by providing relevant information.
As of the latest report, law enforcement agencies, including the police and other security forces, have been mobilized to address the situation promptly. The government assured a swift and comprehensive rescue operation to ensure the safe return of the abducted children.
According to another video posted on Serah Ibrahim’s X account, it has emerged from Ekiti State, showing the bus that conveyed the school children kidnapped by armed herdsmen.
