Insecurity: Terrorists Abduct Traveller, Another Escapes on Egbe–Koro Road in Kwara

Terrorists have kidnapped one person along the Egbe–Koro Road in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, while another victim reportedly managed to escape.

Reports indicate that the attack occurred on Thursday evening as the victims were travelling through the area.

SaharaReporters gathered that one of those abducted is the son of a former Koro women leader, who was journeying with a colleague at the time of the incident.

The heavily armed terrorists ambushed the victims on the highway, forcing them into the bush. One of the victims, however, narrowly escaped and raised the alarm.

This follows another terrorist attack on Tuesday evening along the Eruku–Egbe highway, near the Kwara–Kogi border, in the same Ekiti Local Government Area.

Sources said the incident occurred around 6pm near the volatile Eruku community, where the terrorists opened fire on vehicles travelling the route.

One of the travellers, driving from Ilorin, narrowly escaped death after bullets pierced through his car engine, allowing him to reach safety in Egbe town, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents along the Eruku–Egbe axis, a route increasingly targeted by terrorists.
