Terrorists Abduct Village Imam, Five Others in Zamfara

Terrorists suspected to be Gunmen have abducted the Chief Imam of Fangaltama village and five others in a fresh attack along the Gusau–Sokoto highway in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The attack, which occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, was carried out by gunmen who stormed the village and began shooting indiscriminately.

Fangaltama is located directly opposite a military base, raising concerns about the daring nature of the assault.

According to Zagazola Makama, sources confirmed that the attackers invaded the community and abducted six persons, including the Chief Imam of the village, Liman Hamisu Ali. Five other residents were also whisked away.

During the attack, a female resident, identified as Basira Abdullahi, sustained gunshot injuries. She is currently receiving treatment, although the severity of her injuries was not disclosed.

Security operatives reportedly moved into the area in response to the attack, but the assailants had already escaped with the victims before their arrival. A manhunt has since been launched to track down the perpetrators.

This latest abduction adds to the wave of insecurity that has gripped Zamfara State in recent years, as bandits continue to target rural communities with little resistance.

Residents have renewed calls on the government to strengthen security in the area and rescue the abducted victims.
