Boko Haram terrorists launched a violent attack on Chibok town in Borno State in the early hours of Saturday morning, killing a father and his daughter and setting a local church ablaze.
The assault reportedly began around 2:30 a.m., with terrorists advancing in large numbers.
Residents described a chaotic scene as the attackers attempted to breach Chibok’s defensive positions. Fortunately, troops of the Nigerian Army engaged the insurgents, preventing them from gaining access to the town.
“The Nigerian Army refused them entry into Chibok town. They engaged the attackers effectively,” a source said.
Despite being repelled, the insurgents later struck the Vientan community, located about five kilometres away. The Nigerian army engaged the terrorists, where they killed a father and his daughter, bombed a house, and set a church ablaze.
Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, which covers Chibok, confirmed the incident, saying he received a distress call from one of his coordinators in the town.
He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and called for heightened security measures in the region.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) launched follow-up air interdictions on the fleeing insurgents. Sources revealed that multiple airstrikes targeted retreating Boko Haram fighters along their withdrawal route toward the Timbuktu Triangle.
“The NAF deployed precision strikes, including four major attacks by combat aircraft and additional unmanned aerial platform engagements, significantly degrading the hostile elements and disrupting their movement,” the source added.

The coordinated effort by ground troops and air support successfully contained the attack, preventing further casualties in Chibok.
Senator Ndume urged the military and other security agencies to intensify efforts to restore peace in Southern Borno and across the country.
“It is unfortunate that Boko Haram/ISWAP invaded some communities in Chibok this morning. Although troops repelled them, two people were killed and a local church was razed in Kwada village,” he stated.
