According to reports, a group of terrorists intercepted a vehicle carrying passengers from Kabba to Lokoja along the Oshokoshoko-Obajana-Lokoja road in Kogi State, resulting in the kidnapping of eight individuals.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 pm on Saturday, with the victims comprising two women, four men, and two students, as per information provided to Daily Trust.
Elupo Eliazer, a member of the People with Disabilities (PWDs) chapter in Kogi State, revealed that his wife and son were among those abducted. He disclosed that the abductors contacted them, initially demanding a ransom of N30 million, which was later negotiated down to N2.6 million after appeals were made.
Eliazer recounted that they were en route to attend a church convention in Lokoja and noted that he had opted to travel in a separate vehicle due to space constraints in the Toyota car carrying the victims.
When contacted for information regarding the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Kogi State Police Command, SP William Aya, assured that he would investigate the matter and provide updates.
However, at the time of reporting, no further information had been received from him.
