The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed a kidnapping incident that happened around 5:45 pm on Friday in Eleyin village, Isanlu-Isin, within the Isin Local Government Area.
According to a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on Saturday and obtained by SaharaReporters, the incident involved “five armed men” who “blocked the highway,” intercepted “two private vehicles,” and abducted their “occupants” to an unknown destination.

The Kwara State Police Command stated that its collaboration with the military and vigilantes resulted in the successful rescue of two victims: “Ganiyu Ajayi” and “Kolawole Adeyemi.”
Authorities confirmed that efforts are ongoing to “rescue the remaining victims” and “apprehend the perpetrators.”

To “strengthen security,” the Command revealed that it had intensified measures such as “aggressive bush combing,” “strategic patrols,” and “intelligence-driven operations” to “prevent further occurrences” of similar criminal acts.
The Police further reassured the public that “robust strategies” have been implemented to “safeguard lives and property” across Kwara State.
Residents were urged to “remain calm,” “stay vigilant,” and assist security agencies by providing “credible information.”
The Commissioner of Police reiterated the Command’s dedication to maintaining “law and order,” adding that “further updates” would be shared when necessary.
The spokesperson emphasized that “community cooperation” is essential for “effective policing” and securing the “safety of all.”
Meanwhile, residents of Eleyin village expressed “relief” over the partial rescue and promised to continue supporting the “ongoing security efforts.”
Authorities also encouraged the public to “report suspicious movements” and “adhere to security advisories” from the Command.
The police vowed that the “offenders would be brought to justice” and assured that “normalcy” would soon return fully to the affected community.
Kwara State has faced a surge in insecurity in recent weeks, causing heightened tension and fear, especially after the emergence of a new terrorist group, Mahmuda, which has been responsible for several killings in the state.
