A fresh wave of insecurity has hit Akwa Ibom State as terrorists reportedly attacked a school in Oron Local Government Area and abducted an unspecified number of schoolchildren.
The incident was first raised in a video circulating on social media on Friday, where a visibly distressed young woman alerted the public, saying residents are no longer safe, calling attention to the alleged attack and kidnapping.
The widely shared footage, posted by X user Somto Okonkwo, claimed that armed men invaded the school premises during school hours, seizing several children before escaping to an unknown location.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation from the Akwa Ibom State Government or the police, and the exact number of children abducted remains unclear.
The reported attack has sparked fear among residents, who say the state—once considered one of Nigeria’s most peaceful—has recently witnessed rising incidents of violent crime, kidnappings and armed attacks.
Parents in the community are said to be panicking as they await clarification and security reinforcement. #Terrorists
