Terrorists Hijack Benue Links Bus, Kidnap All Passengers Along Otukpo-Otukpa Road

A troubling kidnapping incident has rocked Benue State, as armed terrorists hijacked a fully loaded commercial bus operated by Benue Links Transport Company at Eke, along the Otukpo-Otukpa Road in Okpokwu Local Government Area.

Sources told SaharaReporters that the attack occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. The assailants reportedly robbed all the passengers before abducting them into a nearby forest.

Eyewitnesses said the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Comrade Austin Agada, arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and promptly alerted security operatives.

A joint security task force has since launched a manhunt for the kidnappers and is combing the area in an effort to rescue the victims.

The attack has raised fresh concerns about the impact of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent visit to the state, during which he instructed the Inspector General of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff to apprehend perpetrators of ongoing violence in Benue.

With the rising frequency of such incidents, public frustration is mounting, as many Nigerians question the government’s capacity to ensure the safety of its citizens.

“We urge the security agencies to expedite action and rescue the victims,” Comrade Agada said. “The people of Benue State deserve to feel safe, and it’s the government’s responsibility to ensure their security.”

The State Police Command has confirmed the incident, assuring the public that efforts are underway to rescue the abducted victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
