Terrorists attacked the Gidan Waya community in Kaduna State’s Lere Local Government Area, killing four people and abducting 12 residents, including a minor, six women, three young men, and an ECWA Church Reverend.
The community has released photographs of the kidnapped victims as it appeals for their safe and immediate release.

Amnesty International reported that the attack occurred on the night of 11 November 2025, highlighting the ongoing failure of Nigerian authorities to protect citizens and hold perpetrators of human rights abuses accountable.
“Amnesty International strongly condemns gunmen’s attack on Gidan Waya in ‘Yarkasuwa, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State in which 4 people were killed and 12 people abudcted – including children: of 13, 14 and 15-years old,” the organization said.

The group added that since 2016, rural communities in parts of northern Nigeria have lived under constant threat from armed groups, forcing many families to abandon their homes. Villages in Plateau, Zamfara, southern Kaduna, Benue, and Katsina have been worst affected
