Terrorists suspected of being kidnappers have killed a 19-year-old Nigerian student, Anas Zubairu, after allegedly receiving a ransom of N17 million in the Project Quarters area of Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
Daily Trust reports that Zubairu, who was studying at a university in Morocco, was visiting family during his holiday when he was abducted last Friday evening around 6 p.m.
After spending some time with his family, he went out to secure his gate before heading home.
At this moment, the suspected kidnappers, who were hiding nearby, shot him in the left shoulder. A close relative, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that the kidnappers then took Zubairu to an undisclosed location.
Five days later, the family was contacted and initially asked for N30 million in ransom. After negotiations, the amount was reduced to N17 million, which the family paid.
Despite this, two days after the ransom was delivered, communication from the kidnappers ceased. Early Sunday morning, the family was informed that Zubairu had been killed.

When approached for comment, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer for Nasarawa State, stated that the police were not aware of the incident.
