JUST IN: Terrorists Kill APC Spokesman, One Other in Plateau

Terrorists reportedly launched an attack on a pub situated in the Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State, resulting in the tragic deaths of an APC spokesman and another person.

According to reports, the attack occurred on Saturday, claiming the life of Sylvanus Namang, who served as the state Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Namang was among those fatally wounded during the assault.

Enock Fanmak, a former state chairman of the APC, expressed disbelief when reached for comment on the incident. “I’m not aware of such sad news. Please, I will verify. I pray it’s not true,” Fanmak stated.

However, another APC chieftain, who requested anonymity, confirmed Namang’s demise to PUNCH Online in Jos on Sunday. The source recounted the sequence of events, stating, “Yes, it’s true. We have lost our spokesman, Sylvanus Namang. From what I was told, he went to Pankshin for a burial on Saturday. Afterward, he went to buy something at an eatery in the locality.”

“Suddenly, some armed individuals came to the place and shot at him and one other person. He later succumbed to the injuries sustained and died. I learnt that the other victim, who is said to be a businessman, also died from the gunshot wounds.”

Describing Namang’s untimely death as shocking, the source urged security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the killings in the pursuit of justice.

Efforts to reach the spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, Alfred Alabo, for comment on the incident were unsuccessful, as his phone indicated that it was switched off.
