Suspected Terrorists Kill Six Traders in Katsina State Ambush

A tragic incident occurred on Friday in Katsina State, where six traders were killed by suspected terrorists on their way to a weekly market.

The traders, who came from Maidabino village, were travelling in a convoy of vehicles to Yantumaki, another village in Danmusa Local Government Area.

According to reports, the convoy was a security measure to avoid bandit attacks in the area.

However, the killers ambushed the convoy near Yantumaki, emerging from a forest and shooting at the vehicles.

According to an eye witness, “It was early in the morning and the traders were close to Yantumaki when the bandits appeared from a forest and occupied the highway. The bandits were just shooting at the convoy of the vehicles. By the time, the security operatives including the troops and the police moved to the scene, six traders had been killed. We are yet to know whether the bandits abducted any of the traders.”

The Katsina State Police Command confirmed the incident, but said they had no details yet. ASP Abubakar Aliyu, the spokesman for the command, said, “The incident occurred but I don’t have details yet, you can call me back later for details.” (Punch)
