Two residents have been killed following an attack by suspected terrorists in the Oriuzor community of Ezza North Local Government Area, Ebonyi State.
The spokesman for the Ebonyi State Police Command, Superintendent of Police Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident to Channels Television on Monday.
According to Ukandu, the attack occurred on Saturday night, November 1, 2025, and the police have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.
One of the victims, identified as a barber, Ifeanyi Ogele, was shot dead inside his shop, while the second victim, Obumneme Nweke, a commercial tricycle operator popularly known as a Keke rider, was also killed near the scene of the first attack.

Ukandu noted that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the killings.
“For now, no arrest has been made, but our men are on their trail,” he stated.
Meanwhile, a commercial bus driver was reportedly attacked by suspected hoodlums on Monday in Abakaliki, the state capital.
According to an eyewitness, the driver was assaulted after he was accused of violating traffic rules. The attackers chased and beat him until he lost consciousness before fleeing the scene.
Ukandu said swift intervention by police personnel helped prevent further unrest. Four suspects were subsequently arrested in connection with the assault.
The injured driver was taken to a hospital for urgent medical attention and is currently responding to treatment.
The police spokesman assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that those responsible will be brought to justice.
