Gun-wielding terrorists instilled fear throughout Katsina State during the late hours of Wednesday and early Thursday morning, targeting a mosque, residences, and perpetrating a series of fatalities and abductions.

The gravest event unfolded during the Ishai prayer session in Yargoje village, situated in the Kankara Local Government Area.

According to reports from DAILY POST, the assailants forcefully entered the mosque and indiscriminately fired upon worshippers, causing widespread panic and tragedy.

“They just walked in and started shooting,” recounted a witness who narrowly escaped the attack.

“Two people were killed right there, and another one was shot as he tried to run away. It was chaotic.

“The attack claimed the lives of three individuals and left four others injured. The injured are receiving treatment at a Kankara hospital. The gunmen also abducted a man and two women from the village.

“One of the victims, a man, tried to fight back, but they overpowered him and killed him,” the source lamented, adding that “they took the two women with them, and we don’t know where they are.”

At approximately 2:30 am on Thursday, assailants singled out the residence of Sani Maikifi, a member of the local vigilante group in Ungwar Tudun Boka, Kankara.

Fortunately, Maikifi successfully evaded capture by fleeing through the backyard. Unfortunately, his family did not share the same luck.

According to a reliable source, the perpetrators had been monitoring Maikifi’s movements for a considerable period leading up to the attack.

“They’ve been after him for a while now,” the source told our correspondent.

“They came looking for him, but he managed to get away. So, they took his wife and son instead,” he revealed.

In furthering the night of horror, a group of armed individuals also stormed Dangani village in Musawa LGA at approximately 11:30 pm on Wednesday.

They unleashed gunfire, instigating widespread panic and disorder, subsequently abducting an undisclosed number of villagers.

“They came shooting sporadically,” reported a resident who witnessed the attack.

“We heard they were after a rich man from the south who was here visiting a bereaved family member. They took many people with them,” he added.

The police have not yet released a statement regarding the attacks. #mosque
