Authorities in Kebbi State have been thrown into panic after terrorists launched a deadly late-night Thursday night attack on a Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) checkpoint in the Bakin Ruwa area of Bagudu Local Government.
According to sources in the community, the assailants identified by residents as ‘Lakurawä terrorists’ struck at about 11:45 p.m., opening fire on officers manning the checkpoint. Three NIS personnel were reportedly killed in the assault.

The attackers also set a patrol vehicle ablaze and destroyed the security shelter at the checkpoint. Residents said the violence extended beyond the facility, with the community mosque also burned down during the rampage.

In a post on X, Mallam Jabir described the incident as “terrifying,” warning that the scale of destruction shows how emboldened armed groups have become in the region.
“This is a wake-up call. The government must act urgently. We cannot continue like this,” the source said.
The attack adds to the growing security concerns in Kebbi State, where locals have repeatedly appealed for stronger protection. Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident.
