Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State criticized his predecessor and current Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday, stating they only dance in the media but cry behind the scenes.
The comments came during a solidarity visit from the people of Ogbakor Etche in Port Harcourt.
Fubara’s remarks appeared to be a response to a video of Wike dancing that went viral on social media last week.
In the video, Wike was seen wearing a Versace blue street-style coat, reportedly worth over N2 million.
The video sparked significant debate, with many citizens criticizing Wike for spending lavishly on fashion amid the ongoing economic crisis in Nigeria.
Addressing the Etche people, Fubara urged his followers not to be misled by his political opponents’ actions.
He stated, “Don’t let anybody deceive you. They can come to the media and dance but when they go behind, they cry.
“The truth is that we don’t know how to dance but we say it the way it is and we stand tall anywhere we go.”
“They can come to the media and dance, when they go behind, they cry!.
Fubara concluded by asserting his confidence and dismissing his political foes, stating, “They are gone.”
