Chief of Staff to Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, Edison Ehie, has made startling allegations, revealing that he was offered money to orchestrate the impeachment of the governor.
Speaking in Ahoada East area of Rivers State over the weekend, Ehie disclosed that despite being tempted with the offer, he adamantly refused to accept any bribes aimed at removing Fubara from office.
Ehie, who chose not to disclose the identities of the individuals behind the bribe attempt, asserted, “They invited me, your son, to impeach the governor and I told them clearly, I was not interested.
“They gave me all the money that was hidden before, which I rejected. And because I refused, they conspired and declared me wanted,” he added.
Recall that in 2023, Ehie was declared wanted by the police in connection with the invasion of the State House of Assembly.
Reports emerged in October 2023 of an explosion rocking the state assembly building, coinciding with alleged attempts by lawmakers to impeach Governor Fubara.
The Martin Amaewhule-led lawmakers purportedly filed criminal complaints against Ehie with the Rivers State Police Command, citing his involvement in the invasion and arson of the Rivers State House of Assembly chambers by unidentified hoodlums.
