The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi has stated that criticisms of Bola Tinubu’s reforms stem from jealousy and should be viewed as acts of opposition to Nigeria’s progress.
Speaking during an investigative public hearing by the Senate Committee on Works in Abuja on Friday, Umahi expressed confidence that the reforms initiated by Tinubu would revitalize the economy in due course.
He emphasized that leaders across various sectors understand the vision behind these reforms and are collectively working toward their successful implementation.
Addressing concerns about the Lagos-Calabar coastal project, Umahi dismissed the criticisms as being motivated by “envy and jealousy.”
“Mr. President had this dream of making Nigeria better for the past 25 years as a governor and now God has given him the opportunity to serve the country and to actualize his dream so he has no choice than to perform”
“It’s very rare for a president to agree to continue the whole project of his predecessor,” he said.

He believed Tinubu was steering the nation in a positive direction, noting that critics had doubted the President’s ability to achieve such progress in such a short time after taking office.
Umahi maintained that “when people stop this suspicion character and digest the coastal road project very well, then they will know it’s a catalyst for the growth of every state in this country.”
He elaborated that the road diversion at the 16-kilometer mark was necessitated by the presence of the African communication cable originating from the ocean.
However, it was reconnected at kilometer 26 to prevent repeating past negative experiences.
