JUST IN: Thugs Attack, Rob Lagos Passengers in Broad Daylight With No Intervention From Security Personnel

Passengers on a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus in Orile, Lagos, were attacked and robbed by a group of street thugs on Tuesday.

The attack took place around 1 p.m. as the bus was travelling from Mile 2 to CMS.

Dare Abiola, a victim of the attack and an eyewitness, shared his harrowing experience.

He recounted that the thugs, disguised as protesters against the recent seizure of motorcycles by the task force, ambushed the bus near the Alafia bus stop, in front of the NNPC fuel station.

According to Abiola, the attackers, who had been part of a growing crowd marching towards Orile, began smashing the BRT’s windshield and windows before forcibly taking passengers’ belongings.

“They took my bag and my phone,” Abiola said. “They threatened to stab me with a Trophy bottle if I didn’t hand them over.”

The incident, which reportedly lasted 20 to 30 minutes, occurred without any intervention from security personnel, leaving passengers defenceless against the thugs.

After the attack, Abiola visited the Orile police station to file a formal complaint.

However, when contacted, Lagos State Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin stated that he had not yet received details of the incident.

This violent attack has raised concerns about the safety of commuters using public transportation in Lagos, especially in areas prone to unrest.
