Tinubu Accused of Holding Kanu Hostage

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s quest for freedom faces another hurdle as Justice Binta Nyako denies his bail application, ordering an expedited trial on terrorism charges. In an exclusive interview, Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, expressed disappointment, laying responsibility on Tinubu and outlined their next legal moves.

Ejimakor revealed plans to submit two new applications during the next court session on April 17, aiming to challenge the denial of bail and address concerns over fair trial conditions. Despite presenting evidence of Kanu’s ill-health and delays in the case, including a Supreme Court ruling in Kanu’s favour, the court ruled against bail, sparking frustration.

Highlighting Kanu’s deteriorating health and alleged interference during legal consultations, Ejimakor raised concerns about the denial of access and substandard detention conditions. He emphasized Kanu’s innocence and criticized the court’s decision to keep him incarcerated.

Addressing suspicions of political interference, Ejimakor implicated Chief Tinubu, suggesting a personal agenda in Kanu’s prolonged detention. He questioned Tinubu’s motives, emphasizing Kanu’s fight for justice and drawing attention to other prominent figures facing lesser consequences.

Despite some political interventions from the South-East, Ejimakor stressed the responsibility lies with Chief Tinubu and urged for a resolution to prevent further escalation. He highlighted previous efforts in the Senate and House of Representatives but emphasized the need for decisive action.
