Palliative Economy: Tinubu Allocates 1,200 Bags of Rice to Each Minister for Distribution as Part of Relief Efforts

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, has announced that Bola Tinubu has allocated 1,200 bags of rice to each Nigerian minister for distribution as part of efforts to mitigate the nation’s economic challenges.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Segun Tomori, Dr. Alake stated that the rice distribution is a federal initiative aimed at combating food insecurity, particularly at the grassroots level.

He explained that his allocation would be directed primarily towards the elderly, stressing the need to prioritize vulnerable populations during times of hardship.

“We must reach out to our elderly fathers and mothers to show our commitment to caring for the aged in our communities,” he said, highlighting the difficulties older citizens face in accessing food distribution centers.

Dr. Alake also emphasized that future distributions would extend to other vulnerable groups, such as widows, orphans, persons with disabilities, and students.

This initiative is part of the federal government’s broader strategy to address the country’s economic hardships, worsened by inflation and other factors.

In a related effort, the government has already distributed 740 trucks of rice, each carrying 1,200 bags, to all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

State governments are responsible for ensuring the rice reaches the most vulnerable citizens.

Dr. Alake urged other well-meaning Nigerians to join these relief efforts, underscoring the importance of collective action in tackling hunger and poverty across the nation.
