Tinubu Doesn’t Know Nigerians Are Hungry, Angry; He’s Isolated in Presidential Villa — Ndume

Senate Chief Whip Ali Ndume has stated that Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu is unaware that Nigerians are experiencing severe hunger and growing anger.

Speaking to journalists at the National Assembly complex in Abuja on Wednesday, Ndume claimed that Tinubu is isolated in the Presidential Villa and surrounded by individuals feeding him false information.

Ndume’s comments followed a Senate resolution urging the federal government to address the widespread hunger or face public backlash.

He co-sponsored a motion with Senator Sunday Karimi, the Chairman of the Committee on Senate Services, titled “Urgent need to address food insecurity and market exploitation of consumables in Nigeria.”

According to Ndume, the government has made no significant progress in resolving the country’s security challenges, which continue to threaten food security.

He stated, “Mr President is not in the picture of what is happening outside the villa. He has been fenced off and caged. So many of us won’t go through the backdoor to engage him.

“Now, they have stopped him from talking and he doesn’t have any public affairs managers, except for his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, who writes press statements.

“Nigerians are getting very, very angry. The government is not doing anything about the food scarcity and it needs to do something urgently. We don’t have a food reserve.

“There is unavailability of food. Food crisis is the worst crisis that any nation can encounter. If we add that to the security crisis, it will be severe,” Ndume added.

Ndume warned that Nigerians are becoming increasingly frustrated and that the government must act swiftly to address the food crisis.

He highlighted the lack of a food reserve and the compounding issue of herders, which exacerbates food scarcity. “Food crisis is the worst crisis that any nation can encounter. If we add that to the security crisis, it will be severe,” he cautioned.
