A controversial 2014 tweet by Nigerian political commentator Japheth J. Omojuwa has resurfaced online, reigniting fierce debate over electoral integrity, political hypocrisy, and the legacy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In the tweet, Omojuwa wrote: “If they roasted all election riggers without trial, would Bola Tinubu be alive today? Say he will, let Amadioha visit you.”
The message, posted on December 5, 2014, referenced Tinubu—then a major opposition figure and now a former president and implied his alleged involvement in election rigging.

The invocation of Amadioha, the Igbo god of justice, added a biting cultural and moral tone to the criticism.
The decade-old tweet gained fresh traction after it was reshared by X user @ogunmusi, who captioned it “I love Old tweets.”

As the post made rounds on social media, Nigerians began revisiting Omojuwa’s past positions in contrast with his more recent political alignments.
Many users saw the post as both a bold criticism of Tinubu’s alleged past and a symbolic reminder of how political narratives shift over time.
Critics have also questioned the silence from Omojuwa, who has not addressed the tweet’s resurfacing amid growing concerns about Nigeria’s democratic backsliding.
With Nigeria still battling controversies around electoral credibility, the tweet’s revival serves as a lightning rod for broader frustrations.
Some users dubbed it a “digital time capsule” capturing the sharp-tongued activism of the pre-2015 political climate, while others see it as a call to hold all political actors past and present to account.
As preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum, Omojuwa’s old words are being weaponized in today’s struggle over political memory, loyalty, and justice.
