Akpabio Says Insecurity Has Reduced Since Tinubu Assumed Office, Despite Series of Killings, Kidnappings

Senate President Godswill Akpabio asserted on Wednesday that the country has experienced a notable reduction in insecurity since Chief Bola Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023.

Akpabio made these comments during a debate on a motion addressing recent killings in Benue State.

While acknowledging the recent incident in Benue as an aberration, Akpabio emphasised the overall decrease in major killings across the nation.

He commended Tinubu for his support of the Armed Forces and expressed confidence in the collaborative efforts between the Senate, House of Representatives, and the Presidency to address security challenges.

Akpabio stated, “It is a fact that since he assumed duties, insecurity has abated, and major attacks are no longer taking place, but this one is just an aberration, and it will be brought to an end.”

Assuring affected communities, Akpabio mentioned that the matter was actively being addressed by the Senate in conjunction with the Presidency to restore normalcy and support the victims.
