Tinubu government is seeking the death penalty for 10 individuals arrested during the #EndBadGovernance protests, a movement that began as a response to widespread frustration with government policies and corruption.
The protests, which happened across the country, lasted for 10 days, drawing thousands of Nigerians who demanded accountability and reform.
This decision to pursue such a harsh penalty marks a significant escalation in the administration’s approach to handling dissent, raising concerns about the government’s commitment to democratic principles and human rights.
This was contained in a Court document seen by West Africa Weekly with file number FHC/ABJ/CR/454/2024, indicating the Tinubu regime is seeking death penalty for the protesters.
The arrested protesters include: Michael Tobiloba Adaramoye, Adeyemi Abiodun Abayomi, Suleiman Yakubu, Opaluwa Eleojo Simon, Angel Love Innocent, Buhari Lawal, Mosiu Sadiq, Bashir Bello, Nuradeen Khamis, Abdulsalam Zubairu.
