A concerned Nigerian, Obiasogu David, in a post on his official X handle titled, “Still On How Tinubu’s Govt Spent N244 Million in One Day to Buy Tyres From a Company That’s Not Active,” highlighted the issue, pointing out the dubious nature of the purchase. The transaction lacked details on the quantity and brand of the tires, making it difficult to verify their actual cost. Moreover, the payment was made to two different suppliers, with one of them being inactive on the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) portal.

Obi-Wealth Enterprises Nigeria Limited, with CAC registration number RC-640684, received N200,583,390 and N38,070,000 for supplying tires for bulletproof vehicles and another set of armored bulletproof tyres, respectively. Hommy & Fay Investments Limited, with CAC registration number RC-109805, received N6,000,960 for supplying Westlake tyres (315/80R22). The number of tires purchased remains undisclosed. The company, owned by Honour Joseph, has limited online presence beyond its address.

A concerned Nigerian, Obiasogu David in a Post on his official X handle stated, “Still On How Tinubu’s Govt Spent N244 Million in One Day to Buy Tyres From a Company That’s Not Active

“Apparently, Nigeria is having her “darkest hours” with this Tinubu’s administration. Amidst crumbling economy with biting recession, his govt still spends money with so much recklessness and thoughtlessness.

“Each day births a new discovery of insensitive waste by the govt – which continues to stir up deeper frustrations and anger in Nigerians. And this particular report is just one of them.

“So, the news circulated on the 26th of June, 2024 that the State House (Aso Rock) had slashed a whopping sum of N244, 654, 350 million to purchase some tyres.

“Apparently, what made the purchase look dubious and suspicious was because its details were sketchy and not adding up.

“One, they refused to include the quantity of the tyres purchased. Of course, including the quantity of the tyres would enable the public check the real price of each type.

“Two, they refused to name the brand of the tyres purchased. It’ll be easy to know the real cost of each of the tyres purchased.

“Three, the transaction was done with two different suppliers, into two different accounts – Obi-Wealth Enterprises Nigeria Limited and Hommy & Fay Investments Limited – one of which, is inactive on CAC.

“Obi-Wealth Enterprises Nigeria Limited was in charge of supply of the tyres for bulletproof vehicles (unknown number) and another set of armoured bulletproof tyres (five in number). The sums of N200,583,390 and N38,070,000 were transferred to them on the same date.

“Asides from the reports I read on the company, I reached a journalist in Abuja for more details about the company. He discovered that the company, which is registered on CAC with the number, (RC-640684), is inactive on CAC portal but seems to be in existence.

“The company is owned by a certain Herbert Tobechukwu Obijaku. A call was put to them but they wouldn’t divulge the details of their business and the particular transaction – for obvious reasons.

“Hommy & Fay Investments Limited, on the other hand, with CAC reg number (RC-109805), handled the other part of the supply of Westlake tyres (315/80R22) for the sum of N6,000,960 – the number purchased is also unknown.

“The company is owned and run by one Honour Joseph. They don’t have a lot visible contact online, aside from their address,” he added.
