While Nigerians Are Told to Be Patient, Tinubu Govt Spends N250 Million on Decorations for ‘First Lady’ Event, Other Functions

Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu led federal government has made payments totaling N250 million for decorations related to various state functions between March 15 and July 15, 2024.

Records from the payments portal reveal that the bulk of these expenses, amounting to N250 million, were made to Rock of Ages Total Events, a decoration service provider.

Notably, on July 15, 2024, N68.4 million was allocated for decorations on Democracy Day. Earlier, on July 5, a payment of N19.9 million was made for the decoration of a 300-seater hall at the Sheraton Hotel.

Additionally, on May 24, 2024, N131.9 million was spent on decorations for State House events catering to women, youth, and children.

Further, N22.5 million was disbursed on May 17 for decorations at the State House’s new banquet hall, including fresh flowers for the Commander-in-Chief’s office. An earlier payment of N7.5 million was made on March 15 for the decoration of the State House banquet hall.

These expenditures have sparked discussions about the need for greater financial prudence and accountability in managing Nigeria’s resources considering the hardship hitting Nigerians.
