Tinubu is Sick, Using Nigeria as Health Insurance, Says Sowore About Tinubu’s Fall On Democracy Day

The African Action Congress, AAC, presidential candidate in 2023, Omoyele Sowore has criticized Bola Tinubu, claiming he is a sick man using Nigeria as health insurance.

Sowore made this remark on Wednesday while reacting to Tinubu’s fall at Eagle Square in Abuja during the 25th Democracy Day celebration.

Sowore condemned the Presidency and Tinubu’s supporters for drawing comparisons between this incident and that of US President Joe Biden’s similar mishap.

In an interview with VOP FM following the incident, Sowore stated that the fall was not a mere accident, asserting, “This is what we were saying when I was running for office in 2019 and 2023.”

He said, “Tinubu is sick and there is no country in the world that should allow a sick person to lead them.

“I have said it and I will repeat it here, I have no problem with old people, aging people or sick people because these are natural occurrences but the moment it is established that they are incapable of running a country like Buhari did and held Nigeria for ransom for eight years, step out of the way and let people who are fit, have the capacity and of great good health, to run the country.

“There is no need to sugarcoat it. There is no need to compare Biden with Tinubu. Difference being that we know Biden’s prognosis. We know that he is sick and we know the nature and character of his illness and his old age but nobody knows that of Tinubu.”

According to Sowore, “He (Tinubu) is just using Nigeria as health insurance”.

The former African Action Congress presidential candidate stated, “America has a robust institution that can function effectively even without a President, but Nigeria does not. In Nigeria, the country’s fate is closely tied to the President’s office. It is a hopelessly centralized system of government. We cannot make such comparisons.”

“By the way, if America is doing something wrong, must Nigeria do the same way? It is not as if we are doing what America is doing right. We are only interested in using America’s wrong to compare our own or to elevate our own wrongs. How long are we going to do that for?”
