The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris has praised Chief Bola Tinubu’s leadership, stating that he is implementing transformative policies and reforms aimed at addressing past missteps and positioning Nigeria as a future economic superpower.

Idris stated, “Under the visionary leadership of Tinubu, we have initiated transformative policies and reforms aimed at correcting the missteps of the past and repositioning Nigeria as an economic superpower shortly.

“Despite global economic headwinds and the transitional pains accompanying some of the reforms, the President has remained focused in his efforts towards reviving our economy and returning the country to the path of prosperity and sustainable growth.”

The minister also noted that one of the setbacks to rural socio-economic development has been the absence of fiscal control by elected local governments. In response, Tinubu’s administration is taking steps toward local government autonomy, including seeking a verdict from the Supreme Court.

Other reforms mentioned include efforts to stabilize the foreign exchange market and reform the tax system, as well as transitioning the oil and gas sector to attract investment. The removal of the petroleum subsidy was highlighted as part of Tinubu’s energy transition efforts, which aim to ease the economic burden on Nigerians.

Idris also commended Nigeria’s 25 years of uninterrupted democracy, celebrating the country’s resilience, progress, and the maturity of its political system despite numerous challenges since independence.

Nigeria, according to Idris, continues to rise stronger through its shared vision of unity and prosperity, solidifying its role as a leading force in Africa and a respected voice on the global stage.

“Since gaining independence in 1960, Nigeria has evolved from a nation of hope and potential into a leading force on the African continent and a respected voice in the global community. We have faced numerous trials, from political upheavals to economic challenges, but each time, we have risen stronger through our shared unwavering vision of a united and prosperous country.

“Our democracy, now unbroken for a quarter of a century, stands as a testament to the will of the Nigerian people to attain and sustain freedom and liberty for posterity. Despite some challenges, we have weathered the storm and remained committed to democratic values and showcasing the maturity of our political system,” he added.
