On Friday, Bola Tinubu sanctioned the appointment of 11 new Chief Executive Officers to lead agencies within the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy.
Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to Tinubu on Media and Publicity, disclosed this in a statement titled ‘Tinubu Appoints New Leadership in Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy Sector,’ which he signed on Friday.
The newly appointed CEOs include Tola Akerele as Director-General of the National Theatre, Shaibu Husseini as Director-General of the National Films and Censors Board, Obi Asika as Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, Aisha Augie as Director-General of the Centre for Black and African Arts and Culture, and Ekpolador-Ebi Koinyan as Chief Conservator of the National War Museum. Ahmed Sodangi has been appointed as the Director-General of the National Gallery of Art.
Additionally, the appointments feature Chaliya Shagaya as Director-General of the National Institute of Archeology and Museums Studies, Khaltume Gana as Artistic Director of the National Troupe of Nigeria, Otunba Ajiboye as Director-General of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation, Ali Nuhu as Managing-Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation, and Ramatu Mohammed as Director-General of the National Commission for Museums and Monuments.
Ngelale conveyed that Tinubu charged the appointees to “discharge their duties in accordance with the highest standards of professionalism, diligence, and patriotism with a view to making the creative sector more vibrant and robust.”
This marks the third set of appointments made by Tinubu during the week. On Thursday, new members were appointed to the board and management of the National Hajj Commission and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission.
