Tinubu Names Newly Approved Abuja Polytechnic After Himself

Bola Tinubu has approved the creation of a polytechnic in Abuja, which will bear his name, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic.

The institution is to be located in the Gwarinpa area of Abuja.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, communicated this decision in a letter to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), stating that the polytechnic will focus on promoting technological, vocational, and entrepreneurial training, aligning with Nigeria’s national educational policy.

Dr. Alausa requested the FCT Minister to propose locations within Gwarinpa for both temporary and permanent sites for the polytechnic.

He further noted that the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) would periodically inspect the proposed locations. Approval will be granted based on the inspection team’s reports.

The chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, expressed his gratitude to the President for the approval, commending the establishment of the new Federal Polytechnic in Gwarinpa.
