Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the heinous killing of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State and has ordered the instant rescue of kidnapped school children by suspected terrorists.
The tragic incident occurred between Oke-Ako and Ipao-Ekiti in the Ajoni Local Government Area.
The monarchs, identified as the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti in Ajoni, Ikole Local Government Area, were attacked by gunmen while returning from a meeting. Another monarch, the Alara of Ara in Ikole LG, narrowly escaped the armed men’s attempt to forcibly take them away, according to sources cited by Oodua News.
In response to the distressing news, Tinubu, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, issued a statement on Tuesday denouncing the incident as mindless and brutal bloodletting.
Ngelale stated, “It is with grief that Bola Tinubu receives the news of the killing of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State, the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola.
“Tinubu condemns this mindless and brutal bloodletting, and pledges that the perpetrators will not escape justice.
“Tinubu condoles with the families and subjects of the traditional rulers, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and the people of Ekiti State on this deeply agonizing development.”
Additionally, Tinubu has directed the immediate rescue of pupils and teachers who were kidnapped around the Eporo-Ekiti area on Monday.
“As security of life and property is the primary responsibility of the government, Tinubu assures Nigerians that the nation’s security architecture is being robustly fortified for better and expected outcomes,” the statement added.
Parallel facts had previously reported the terrorists attack and abduction of students, teachers, and a driver in the Emure-Ekiti area, which was confirmed by the Ekiti State Government.
The government assured residents and the victims’ relatives that security agencies were actively engaged in ongoing rescue operations.
