Bola Tinubu has reappointed Malam Mele Kyari as the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The announcement was made in a statement issued by spokesman Ajuri Ngelale on Monday.
Mele Kyari, who was appointed by the administration of Muhammadu Buhari as the 19th GMD of the NNPCL in 2019, will remain as the corporation’s CEO.
The appointment, which takes effect on Friday, December 1, 2023, marks Kyari’s continuation in the leadership of the NNPCL. Alongside Kyari, Tinubu also appointed a management team for the corporation, with Chief Pius Akinyelure taking the helm as Non-Executive Board Chairman.

The new management team, approved in compliance with Section 59(2) of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021, is as follows:

- Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer
- Alhaji Umar Isa Ajiya, Chief Financial Officer
- Mr. Ledum Mitee, Non-Executive Director
- Mr. Musa Tumsa, Non-Executive Director
- Mr. Ghali Muhammad, Non-Executive Director
- Prof. Mustapha Aliyu, Non-Executive Director
- Mr. David Ogbodo, non-executive director
- Ms. Eunice Thomas, Non-Executive Director
