Jonathan Paid Subsidies, Left Debt of Less Than 20 Trillion While Tinubu Removed Subsidy, Leaving Nigeria in Debt of Over 142 Trillion —Oseni Rufai

Renowned broadcaster and journalist Oseni Rufai has criticized Tinubu’s government for plunging Nigeria in debt of over N142 trillion naira.

Making a contrast between Tinubu’s government and that of Goodluck Jonathan, he stated that Tinubu removed subsidy yet Nigeria’s Debt soared to over 142 trillion but Jonathan paid subsidies and Nigeria’s debt was less than N20 trillion naira.

Rufai made this statement in a post shared on his official X handle on Saturday.

He wrote,”Jonathan paid subsidies and left the debt at less than 20 trillion. Tinubu removed subsidy and debt is over 142 trillion. Na wa ooo.”

Reacting to his post, netizens have expressed their opinions and thoughts on the issue.

“They also told us that the money recovered from non payment of subsidies will be invested in our economy, today Nigeria is experiencing exponential inflation. Our people barely feed. Where is the subsidy money? What is the way forward?,”Elvis Osas Odese wrote.

Stephen Orukpe wrote,”Very so sad. To imagine that@RemiTinubu during campaign said@officialABAT family doesn’t need Nigeria money but immediately after he foolishly removed fuel subsidy, and after it’s devastated effect, shamelessly was saying it wasn’t their government that’s caused Nigerian problems with all the spending spree. Really shameful.”

“In GEJ government there were criminals and few good men and women who were not stealing. But in Tpain’s government everyone is a criminal including TPain himself,” Chukwuma added.
