Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his dedication to Nigeria’s development and unity, asserting that he will stay focused and undeterred from doing what is right for the country.
This declaration was made through the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during the unveiling of the autobiography of former Jigawa State Governor and elder statesman, Alhaji Sule Lamido. The book, titled “Being True to Myself,” was launched at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja.
President Tinubu, who was the Grand Guest at the event, described Lamido’s autobiography as a notable addition to Nigeria’s political records and democratic conversation. Speaking on his behalf, the Minister praised Lamido for his bravery, consistency, and unwavering principles in Nigeria’s political landscape, even as a member of the opposition.

“This is not merely the unveiling of a book,” Idris remarked, “it is the celebration of a life defined by courage, consistency, and commitment to democratic ideals. Alhaji Sule Lamido, though a staunch member of the political opposition and often a critic of the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, remains one of the strong pillars of Nigeria’s political evolution.”
Conveying the President’s message, Idris emphasized Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive politics, noting that opposition should be seen as a contest of ideas, not hostility.
“Every citizen, regardless of party affiliation, has a seat at the table of national discourse,” he said.
He also commended the effort and time Lamido dedicated to writing the book, calling it a “labour of resilience” and a vital contribution to Nigeria’s political heritage. He encouraged other political figures to emulate Lamido by chronicling their experiences for future generations.

Reflecting on the book’s title, “Being True to Myself,” Idris said it appropriately reflects Lamido’s image as a forthright and principled political figure. He also drew parallels between Tinubu’s and Lamido’s leadership qualities, stating that the President remains devoted to core national values such as truth, justice, peace, and shared prosperity.
Idris stressed Tinubu’s resolve to lead Nigeria toward sustainable growth and macroeconomic balance, despite existing challenges.
“Are we saying that we are where we need to be and that there isn’t room for more work to be done? Certainly not. What we are saying is simple: that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated uncommon audacity and vision to set Nigeria on the path of true growth and development,” Idris stated.
Touching on security matters, Idris assured the public of the President’s unwavering determination to secure lives and maintain Nigeria’s territorial integrity. He also acknowledged the military’s sacrifices in keeping the nation safe.
The Minister highlighted the administration’s ongoing fiscal reforms, including newly introduced Tax Bills designed to bolster national development while avoiding excessive pressure on citizens.
“President Tinubu welcomes constructive criticism at all times, in the spirit of freedom of speech and democratic engagement, but he will also never allow himself to be distracted from doing what is right for Nigeria,” Idris concluded.
The event, which drew a large audience, further affirmed Tinubu’s dedication to inclusive governance, national progress, and democratic integrity.
