Nigerians have blasted Bola Tinubu for refusing to visit Katsina State after a wave of killings, forcing Governor Dikko Radda and prominent elders to travel to Abuja and plead for federal help.
The outrage was triggered after Katsina stakeholders met Tinubu at the State House, where he promised troop reinforcement and the deployment of additional drones to tackle banditry.
Commenting on the meeting, Ibrahim H Abdulkarim wrote on X, “Allah sarki, the President refuses to go see the people of Katsina. The people of Katsina came to him in the Villa and commiserated with him for the death of Katsina people he failed to protect. The governor has to look like a sycophant to see the President. What a country?”

The remark, which has gone viral, drew widespread support from users who accused Tinubu of abandoning a state still reeling from attacks.

Tinubu had told the delegation, “Today, I have directed all the security agencies to energize further, to look at the strategy again. Additional deployment of air drones, and if they have to shift movement in between Katsina and other boundary areas, they should do so. And they are going to give me a feedback by tomorrow.”
He acknowledged the depth of Nigeria’s security crisis, admitting, “What is happening in the country, the security challenges that we have is insurmountable. Yes, we have a very poor border. We inherited the weaknesses which will have been conquered and buried earlier on. But it is a challenge that we have got to face, and we are facing it.”
Governor Radda, however, praised Tinubu after the meeting, saying, “Mr. President has truly shown himself as a son of Katsina. We remain grateful for the continued concern over our security challenges.”
But Abdulkarim’s post suggested many see the governor’s words as sycophancy. “Maybe because Katsina doesn’t have VDM or strong media like Benue. Subhanallah. Allah mun tuba. KATSINA BA KORAFI,” he wrote.
The delegation to Abuja included the Emir of Katsina, senior lawmakers, cabinet members, former governor Aminu Masari, and businessman Dahiru Mangal, among others.
Critics argue Tinubu’s refusal to travel to Katsina undercuts his empathy for victims, contrasting with expectations that a president should personally visit communities hit by violence.
