Bola Tinubu has responded to increasing demands for him to address the nation amidst the widespread #EndBadGovernance protests, which have entered their third day as of Saturday.

This announcement was made by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement.

Since the protests began on Thursday, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Tinubu’s contenders in the last election, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, have vocally urged him to address the defiant youths who have taken to the streets. These protests express their displeasure over the faltering economy and the resulting hardship in the country.

In recent months, prices of food and basic commodities have skyrocketed as Nigerians grapple with one of the worst inflation rates and economic crises in the country’s history. This situation has been exacerbated by the government’s policies of removing the petrol subsidy and unifying forex windows.

The #EndBadGovernance protests, which have gained momentum on social media and are planned to last for 10 days, entered their third day on Saturday. Resilient youths continue to press on, demanding that President Tinubu address their concerns.

The protesters’ demands include the restoration of petrol subsidies and the current forex regime. They also call for the government to tackle food shortages, unemployment, and wasteful spending by those in power. Other demands include reducing the President’s cabinet and overall cost of governance, implementing immediate reforms of the electoral body INEC and the anti-corruption agency EFCC, and intensifying the fight against corrupt politicians.
