Tinubu to Resolve APC Edo Crisis, not Court, APC Chieftain Says

Chief Bensiru Imoudu, a retired justice and APC chieftain in a statement yesterday in Abuja revealed that since last month after the recently concluded APC primaries to pick the governorship candidate in Edo state, there has been tension in the party.

The APC primaries have thrown up Monday Okpebholo, Dennis Idahosa and Anamero Dekeri as candidates of the party, with Idahosa and Dekeri challenging the National Headquarters of the party for declaring Okpebholo as the authentic winner and candidate of the party.

The crisis deepened when the former Governor and leader of the party in the state threw his support behind Idahosa. While Idahosa hails from Edo South, the zone where the incumbent governor comes from, Okpebholo is from Edo Central while Dekeri comes from Edo North.

Bensiru Imoudu added that though disagreement are not strange in politics, it is however shocking to see some aspirants resorting to court. This action according to him won’t bring solution to the issue at hand rather the intervention of Tinubu will.

In his words, “I want to use this opportunity to call on Mr. Tinubu to invite the leaders and aspirants to a peace meeting to resolve this issue.“ This is very important because zoning is sacrosanct in Edo state. It is beyond the parties, it is the body language of the people to zone offices just like Ondo state and many others,”

“Let party leaders come together and embrace peace so that Edo will be in the news for the good reasons again”. He said.
