Chief Bola Tinubu has finalized plans to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State.
According to two presidential sources familiar with the matter, the decision was reached overnight and will be announced soon.
The unprecedented political move comes amid escalating violence between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Governor Simi Fubara, as Wike continues efforts to unseat the governor in their prolonged political battle.
A presidential spokesperson declined to comment on the development, while Wike and Fubara did not respond to The Gazette’s requests for a statement.
