Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a stern caution to anti-state actors posing a threat to Nigeria’s sovereignty, particularly amidst recent security challenges in the country.
Tinubu delivered this message during a meeting with leaders of Afenifere, the esteemed Yoruba Socio-Cultural Organisation, at the State House in Abuja.
Tinubu’s warning comes barely few days after the attack on Oyo State secretariat by suspected members of the Yoruba Nation group.
Asserting his commitment to the unity of Nigeria and constitutional democracy, Tinubu emphasized the importance of security in fostering development. He highlighted the administration’s efforts in combating terrorism, stating that significant progress had been made in degrading terrorist activities.
He stated, “I am irrevocably committed to the unity of Nigeria and constitutional democracy. Constitutional democracy is reflected greatly here since we assumed office.
“What we face now is the challenge of terrorism. Security of life and property is very necessary for development. I can tell you we are achieving success. We have degraded terrorism to a level that they cannot threaten the sovereignty of Nigeria any longer.
“Banditry and kidnapping will be defeated. And there is no payment of ransom whatsoever. We are taking the battle to them. We are getting results more rapidly than before. We are working hard on intelligence gathering.
“Those who think they can threaten the sovereignty of Nigeria will have themselves to blame. They have a price to pay. And we are not going to relent,” Tinubu added.
Tinubu also underscored his administration’s dedication to enhancing economic security and creating a fair and equitable system for all Nigerians to thrive. He outlined initiatives aimed at bolstering citizens’ purchasing power and spreading prosperity across the nation.
