Nigerian activist Rinu Oduala has criticized the Tinubu-led government for canceling scholarships for foreign students.
Recall that Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, declared a five-year halt to the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) programme.
According to him, the development is part of efforts to enhance student development, focus on welfare, and reinforce the nation’s educational infrastructure.

Alausa explained that the suspension followed a detailed evaluation which showed that the courses provided abroad under the BEA initiative are now available—and often better developed—within Nigerian universities.

“We have carefully reviewed all courses our citizens pursue abroad. Every single one is now offered here at home,” he said.
However, reacting to the development, Rinu in a post shared on her official handle, cajoled the initiative questioning why Tinubu did not as well cancel Hajj pilgrimage and funding.
Her post reads,”The Nigerian government can cancel foreign scholarships for students but cannot cancel pilgrimage and Hajj funding. Make it make sense.”
