During a meeting with all directors of the Ministry in Abuja on Thursday, Minister of Works David Umahi revealed this disbursement.

He emphasized that the released funds underscore Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s commitment to investing in infrastructure, stressing that no excuses will be tolerated to ensure thorough and timely repairs.

Among the roads benefiting from this allocation are the resurfacing of the Third Mainland Bridge, construction of the Lekki Deep Seaport, rehabilitation of two collapsed bridges in Enugu, and work on two sections of Onitsha-Owerri.

Additionally, the approved road projects include the upgrade of the ongoing Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia road and the dualisation of the Lafia bypass, among others.

Recalling events from October 2023, the Ministry sought approval from the Federal Government for the swift rehabilitation of 260 critically failed projects across the federation. The government granted approval two weeks later.

“Tinubu has approved over 260 road interventions across the 36 states and the FCT,” Umahi stated.

“I am pleased to announce that 50 per cent of the palliative works for the year 2023 have been released to the Ministry. The pressure was already on me, so I even had to resume early,” he added.
