Tinubu’s Minister Receives Treatment After Alleged Poisoning

Lola Ade-John, the Minister of Tourism for Nigeria, is reportedly receiving treatment in an Abuja hospital for what looks to be acute poisoning from an unexplained source.

Bola Tinubu named Ms. Ade-John as a minister in August. She was quickly praised for being one of the few cabinet members chosen outside of the political establishment. She was requested to return to the country to serve, after years of being in London.

According to family sources familiar with her struggle, Lola Ade-John, 60, was brought to the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, soon after she began exhibiting symptoms of her poisoning.

She had been there for four days as of Friday morning, according to The Gazette.

Also, her deteriorating condition has further inflamed the family’s animosity towards the government, and the permanent secretary of her ministry is reportedly split on whether she should remain at a public hospital for treatment or be transferred to a better-equipped private facility in the city, it was further gathered.

The minister’s family had reportedly rejected the secretary, Ngozi Onwudike’s argument that she shouldn’t be relocated because the FMC is a public hospital and its services wouldn’t incur significant costs for the government.

However, according to the report, they had stayed with her since they were unable to acquire enough money to transfer her to a private hospital.
