Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage is making her acting debut in the highly anticipated Nollywood blockbuster, “Water and Garri,” which is scheduled to premiere on May 10.
Directed by Meji Alabi, the film is set to be released on Prime Video, a popular subscription video-on-demand streaming service.
The announcement was made by director Meji Alabi on his Instagram page, expressing his excitement about the project. Produced by Jimi Adesanya, “Water and Garri” features a star-studded cast, including Tiwa Savage, Jemima Osunde, Mike Afolarin, and Andrew Bunting.
Inspired by Tiwa Savage’s second EP song of the same title released in 2021, the film explores themes of love, identity, and self-discovery.
The plot revolves around Aisha, an ambitious fashion designer who returns to her native home in Nigeria after a decade abroad due to a family bereavement.
Upon her return, Aisha finds herself grappling with a changed environment marked by escalating violence and heightened tension. As she reconnects with her family, she must confront her past and come to terms with the guilt she left behind.
The producers promise that the intrigues and emotional journey depicted in “Water and Garri” will captivate audiences, making it a must-watch for moviegoers.
