The trip, which reportedly includes over 1,400 delegates from Nigeria, has raised eyebrows due to its extravagant nature and the inclusion of seemingly unrelated figures, including Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.

The United Nations disclosed that Nigeria’s delegation, led by Bola Tinubu, surpassed major nations like the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. The delegation’s size, with 1,411 attendees, has sparked criticism, especially considering the economic challenges facing Nigeria.

Bola Tinubu, previously critical of climate policies, had pledged in 2022 not to comply with Western emission policies unless financial aid was provided to Nigeria. However, the current delegation’s ostentatious spending contradicts this stance.

Toke Makinwa’s presence at the conference has stirred controversy, as questions arise about her role and the funding source for her trip. The focus on her activities adds a layer of intrigue to the already contentious climate delegation.

Despite the controversy, a spokesman for Bola Tinubu declined to comment, citing busyness on the ongoing trip.
